Caprese Salad

Caprese salad is a simple Italian salad made with sliced ​​fresh mozzarella, tomato, and basil, seasoned with salt and olive oil. It's an excellent pairing option with our new As Torres Chardonnay. Below is a great recipe for you to prepare.

Ingredients

For the salad.
  • 1 kg of buffalo mozzarella
  • 5 tomatoes
  • 6 washed basil leaves
  • olive oil to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • pesto sauce to taste
For the pesto:
  • 2 cups of fresh basil leaves
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup (tea) of olive oil
  • black pepper to taste

Preparation Method

For the salad:
  1. On a cutting board, slice the mozzarella into 0.5 cm slices. Transfer to a bowl, season with salt, and drizzle with olive oil. Gently mix the slices with a spoon. Set aside.
  2. Also cut the tomatoes into 0.5 cm slices. Transfer to a colander and season with a pinch of salt. Using your hands, mix the ingredients and let them drain while you prepare the sauce.
  3. When serving, arrange alternating 4 slices of tomato with 4 slices of cheese on each plate. Spread a little pesto sauce between the slices. Garnish with basil leaves and serve immediately.
  4. If you prefer, arrange the slices on a serving dish, forming a scale pattern.
  5. Garnish with basil leaves and serve the sauce separately.
For the pesto:
  1. To measure the amount of basil leaves, pack them tightly into the cup.
  2. Wash the basil leaves and peel the garlic cloves. Place all ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth.
  3. If you prefer, grind the ingredients in a mortar and pestle. Start by grinding the garlic, add the basil, then the cheese, and finally the olive oil. Season with a little black pepper and store in a sterilized jar.
